The ‘Bidni’ variety is endemic to Malta but, until just 10 years ago, it was virtually unknown, with the tree thriving only in a stretch of woodland between Bidnija and Wardija. On average, a ‘Bidni’ harvest produces less olive oil when compared to other varieties, particularly as the fruit is picked very early on in the season.
